Lydia James has little time nor hope of finding a love of her own, not when her father is leaving to work for the railroad and she's left to look after her three sisters and all the local school-aged children. All that changes when Vincent Bellini shows up on her doorstep in the darkest hours of night, mistaking her for a never-met cousin.
